Despite having a pretty solid premise, Fox TV's Terra Nova also had Brannon Braga working on it, and since his days ended with Star Trek Braga hasn't exactly had the Midas Touch, if you know what I mean. However, Terra Nova's leading star Jason O'Mara shows up with a birthday today. What else? Well, am I glad you asked! Just follow the link, my friends ...
August 6 Have a wonderful day, and I'll catch up with you soon. Naturally, I don't mean the headline as an insult to anyone. The Green Lantern movie wasn't awful ... but it was about as close as you can get. Mark Strong made an appearance as the legendary Sinestro -- still a Green Lantern at the time of this story -- and he was about the best thing in there. What else is in store for you On This Day In Science Fiction History for August 5? Need you ask?
August 5 Have a look, wade around in the deep end, and I'll be back in 24 hours with some new stuff. Those viewers familiar with Stargate: SG-1 will recognize the face of the late Don Davis. Me? I remember him from the 90's cult TV program from David Lynch's crazed mind, Twin Peaks. In either case, Davis played the consummate figure of authority with tremendous grace and conviction. Hollywood could use more of his make. What else is in store for August 4's History of Science Fiction? You know how to find out!
August 4 Follow the link, peeps, and I'll be back here in 24 to show you even more! I hate to sound like I'm nitpicking. I really do. However, I've never been able to shake the feeling that 2012's Total Recall remake was little more than some studio's excuse to waste money. If you're going to remake a veritable classic so soon, then shouldn't you bring something new to the table? Still, there's more to be excited about for August 3rd, so let's get the ball rolling.
August 3 You know what to do. You know when I'll see you again. In today's cavalcade of birthdays, one certainly rises to the top so far as Science Fiction purists would be concered: Mr. Sam Worthington. He's definitely made an imprint on fandom, stepping into some big projects right out of the gate, and it appears there's plenty more where that came from! If you want to know more:
August 2 Have a terrific day, and I'll see you in 24 hours! Epic love affairs and Science Fiction don't always mix, but -- every now and then -- someone pens a terrific scenario, forcing the stars to align in such a way that even fans never saw it coming. Such is the case with Peter David's book in the Star Trek: The Next Generation timeframe, Imzadi. What does that have to do with August 1st? Follow the link, and you will know:
August 1 Of course, you can always wait until tomorrow, because I'll be right back here. |
